About Us

From Dairy to Dogs…

I've been a dairy farmer for my entire life, milking cows since I was 12 on the farm that has been in my family since the late 1800ís. When I was 66, I decided it was time to slow down - so in 2004 I sold the bulk of my dairy herd and decided to convert 50 feet of my one-story dairy barn into a dog kennel. I continued to milk 25 cows until August 2008, when the remaining cows were sold. I have always had a love for dogs, and having farm dogs through the years was just not enough.

Through my son Ryan's friend, I became familiar with the French Brittany (read "A Tribute to Scooter"). After seeing their pointing ability, size, and how well they adapt to family living, I knew that this was the breed I wanted to pursue. I purchased a few registered puppies to breed – I would produce quality puppies while maintaining their natural hunting ability, size, and conformation.

Currently we belong to the Minnesota Purebred Dog Breeders Association, the Great Northern Epagneul Breton Gun Dog Club, and the French Brittany Gun Dog Association of America. In August 2008, I retired from dairy farming, but will continue with Purebred Registered Angus cattle that will roam my pasture. Then I will work towards my goal to represent the French Brittany as a quality breeder, and to make people happy with their new companions.
